An Introduction to Safeguarding and Child Protection
As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (2023) statutory safeguarding and welfare requirements all staff working with children from birth to five years must have an understanding of safeguarding, identify signs of abuse and know what to do if they have a concern. Our introduction to safeguarding and child protection has been designed specifically to support staff working with children in the early years. Drawing upon real scenarios and years of experience to help participants to be able to the following:
Understand their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding children.
To be able to define safeguarding and child protection.
Identify the areas of abuse and signs of children experiencing, abuse, neglect or domestic violence.
Know what to do if they have a concern and procedures to follow.
Understand Prevent Duty and act appropriately if they have concerns that someone is at risk of radicalisation.
Know the signs of FGM and what to do if have concerns.
Understand what county lines is, what the signs are of exploitation and what to do with concerns.
This is a live online training event that lasts 3 hours, there are a vast array of media used, from short videos, case studies, scenarios and handouts. There are also opportunities for group work and discussion.
