Phonics in the Early Years

Our Phonics in the Early Years training session will build your team's confidence, knowledge and inspire them to move forward the use of phonics in your settings. Our inspirational training course will give you hands-on experience on how to teach phonics.

This session is designed to unpack what phase one phonics is with a lot of practical examples and opportunities to develop skills and introduce simple activities into your setting. Phonics is an integral part of early years settings, something that you may not realise you are already delivering to your children.

Why is Phonics in the Early Years important?

There has been an increasing emphasis in the past few years on the teaching of phonics in the early years, for example, it is highlighted within the Early Years Inspection Framework (2019). When most people think of phonics you instantly think about letters and sounds, they make; but there is so much more to phonics then learning our a, b, c’s.
